POP # 3853-Prime Fruit Orchard

We arrived at our POP ( Park over Property) on Thursday before Easter Weekend. This POP was an Orchard but now it is transformed into a large area for Motorhomes and Caravans and is owned by Dick and Elly Spiekerman. There was 16 Motorhomes or Caravans parked during our stay.

There is a toilet and Shower, water, laundry and power available.

What a great couple Dick and Elly are. They provided lot’s of good information and made us feel welcome.

Thank you for sharing your stories Dick and Elly and safe travels. Robyn found the wild blackberries thanks.

CLIFTON RESERVE

While in Hastings we went to Clifton reserve to see this Freedom site on the beach. We will use it when we return to this area. Robyn talked to an interesting guy who made himself a one person caravan the size of a postage stamp. Well not really, but it had a bed, stove, fridge, toilet in it. An idea of size can been seen from the pic’s enclosed.

Te Mata Peak

One of the nightlights of our stay was the drive up the windy, some times one way, scary road up to the Te Mata Peak. However, the view was breathtaking. It was crowded as this is school holiday time and there are many walks and cycle trails in this park. We watched Paragliders paint the sky with their colourful sails getting the updraft from the rocky cliffs.

HASTINGS FARMERS MARKET

A fun morning is going to the Farmers Market which has a great selection of food options so do not eat breakfast before you go. We were going to stock up on Fruit and veg but there was only on stall there. However, the coffee options and ethic food choices are numerous.

Iron Art

Not far from the POP (Park over Property) that we stayed at is an artist that specialises in creating sculptures in metal. I stopped by to photograph some of his a work.

THE FIGGERY

If you are wanting a food delight, then go no further than The Figgery at Havelock North. Not only do they serve delicious food of which there is a fig component to each dish, but they also sell fresh figs and an array of fig products. Robyn got a little carried away and purchased several fig delights which I had to try. We loved our visit for lunch and would go again to Te Mata Figs. (Click the highlighted link for their story)

You sure are finding some interesting places.
And the small caravan with even a toilet is amazing.
