Murchison town
What a great choice we made to stay here on our journey to Westport. Initially we planned to stop at the NZMCA park site in Murchison for two days but stayed 4 because we enjoyed it so much. We met Debbie and Warren at this NZMCA park and they were fun to be around with their two dogs.
This town is stacked with history from the Gold miners to Timber mills. But it is the calmness about the town that impresses and the warmth of it citizens.

Pie cart
If visiting be early to grab some of the best pies or bread you will eat. Lee the owner/baker prepares his delights fresh each day and if you arrive after 12 noon he has probably sold out!
We had the vegetarian pie options and bread. Lee if from UK and is a great source of information.

Buller Gorge Swingbridge
Lee suggested the Swingbridge (the longest is the South) across the Buller Gorge river. Robyn was the brave one to walk the long bridge with a tourist, Cindy from Germany. Both Robyn and Cindy ‘egged’ each other into walking the swingbridge. Me, I declined as I was chicken.

Once they made it across to the other side of the river, Robyn and Cindy then explored the Gold Mining remains and Gold miners hut there. Should we return to Murchison I will try to cross as I would love to see this Gold Mining History.
