WAIARAPA-Small towns New Zealand

THE WAIARAPA TOWNS-

Woodville, Pahiatua, Eketahuna

Our decision to travel down through the Waiarapa from Napier/Hastings to Wellington was to experience small town New Zealand. The decision did not disappoint. Here then is a brief glimpse of these towns through my lens and Robyn’s phone. Actually, I think some of Robyn’s shots tell the story best.

The small town of Woodville embraces visitors in Caravans and Motorhomes with a well appointed Campground consisting of Power, Water, Toilets and Shower and rubbish recycling. While parked there for four days we met Geoff and Deidre from Southland. Their bus had broken down and was waiting to be towed to Palmerston North for repairs. The Southland region they live looks amazing and we look forward to catching up with them there later in the year.

Unfortunately in Eketahuna, it rained heavily and a watchful eye on the river by the Campground was imperative. However, we got to do a couple of walks through the Redwoods and enjoy some local cuisine at Lazy Graze Cafe. The burgers there will feed two and the nachos a whole family, such are the huge portions served by delightful staff. The light fittings in the Cafe were different as our pic shows.

Ferry Reserve freedom camping area, caters for Caravans and Motorhomes along the river and although the weather was bleak on the day we visited, one could image it would be a great location to park up in the Summer. Love the bridge though.

In Pahiatua we visited the TUI Brewery. The day we were there was a car event, but we got to enjoy the Brewery, food and join in judging the best car in the event.
