Where to stay in Auckland during Lockdown 3?

While we were planning our getaway in our new Motorhome (our now permanent home) the city of Auckland went into level 4 Lockdown due to the Covid virus.

We had already put our furniture in storage, advertised and selected tenants to rent our house but they could not move into our house under Level 4. So,  we were stuck living in our new home on wheels, in our own driveway until level 3-ha.

Parked on our Driveway

When Auckland moved into Level 3 this  meant that our tenants could move into our home. However, the borders out of Auckland were still closed and all Campgrounds as well.. There was group of us stuck in Auckland and permanently living in our Motor-homes in a Self Contained environment. We were fortunate that our new ACM Motorhome had good power from Solar and batteries and we had two toilet cassettes. However, water was precious so we had to be inventive as to where we could get water from. Robyn and I filled up our Motorhome at a BP Gas Station, two friends who lived handy to where we were parked and from the sink taps in Council opened toilet blocks. We had a second vehicle, a Suzuki 2 door Grand Vitara and were able to drive to our son’s house for showers.

So, where did you stay during this period you may ask?

With our tenants finally moving into our home, we parked our Motorhome at Hatfield’s Beach and were there for a month with 11 other RV people stuck in Auckland too. There are 24 hour toilets and a dump station at Hatfield’s Beach so that made the stay easier. We spent a week at Snell’s Beach North end at the beginning of October until we found our present location on a Farm Stay-Matakana Country Park.
